About Ruth
Ruth is an Australian painter who works primarily in oil paints on linen or board. She often sketches in pencil, graphite or chalk before launching into paint. Ruth enjoys loose mark making with the inspiration to continue working in this manner, often describing her work as feeling that she is drawing in paint.
Ruth is also influenced and inspired by the Australian landscape and the people in it. With enough subject matter in both genres to paint until she can no longer do so!
Ruth was longlisted in March 2026 in the Jackson’s Art Prize, London UK to the final 6% of total entries worldwide. She hopes and intends to make it to the shortlist in the near future. Ruth also enters into art prizes within Australia aiming to one day claim a prize that she is proud of.

Ruth recently had her first solo exhibition ‘Paddocks and Places’ at Art Post Uki in Uki, northern NSW. This was a huge success and almost a sell out. Opening night the gallery space was full and the exhibition remained a success for the duration of the show, selling 11 out of her 14 paintings. Ruth was overwhelmed from the support and positive feedback on her exhibition.
